A yellow and black jade model of a recumbent hound with its head turned slightly to one side, the curled tail flicked up, the details of the ribs well defined and the stone well used.
Provenance: Nagatani Inc., Chicago

Reference: The Arts Council of Great Britain and The Oriental Ceramic Society; Chinese Jade throughout the Ages, London, 1975, no. 204, page 72 and 73. Although dated to the Tang dynasty this example is strikingly similar to the above carving in its use of stone and the pose of the animal.
