A rare iron red decorated baluster jar with a short cylindrical neck, painted with four diamond shaped
cartouches enclosing Arabic inscriptions within squares, the ground with formal scrolling lotus flowers and foliage between bands
of stylised lappets and ruyi head designs, interspersed with demi-florettes, the neck with a further narrow band of foaming waves.
The Arabic script may be translated as: O God! Protect Hui Ma Yun (from) the anger of the wicked.
